I keep wondering about the same thing - the price seems to be too good to be true.

Thumbs up Re: Anyone use Primus?

I have been using Primus DSL for the past 8 years. I love it! I was using them years ago for phone as well, but then bell offered me a better deal so I went with bell for phone service and kept my DSL with primus. Now that Primus has this great deal on phone and DSL, I am switching back to primus!....I just signed up.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I guess with the money I save, I should be able to partake in more local activities!! Now all I have to do is get Rya to come out of retirement!!

I use it too, Gerald, have had it for about 9 months now. Yes it is cheaper, but I find it not as fast as the Rogers I used to have; however, I can put up with the loss of speed, as it is still a lot faster than dial up. Had problems at first with the necessary filters on the phone lines, but I must say their tech. support people are very good and helpful, for both phones and Internet.
So, on the whole, I like it!

Thanks for the info.
I just moved into an apartment and the rogers connection is shit.
I may go for DSL in hopes the connection is more stable.

So, if it's DSL highspeed 43 bucks per month. Are they bundling it together with a VoIP service for 20 bucks more?

They don't bundle the VoIP with anything as far as I can see.
If you want that type of phone service it's a seperate purchase from the DSL.

The bundle I mentioned is Internet and standard phone services.

Triple Value BundleTM Only $69.95/month.
  • Local Home Phone with 9 calling features
  • 5 Mbps High Speed Internet Service
  • Unlimited Long Distance (Canada and the U.S.)

I was with Bell DSL service from day one of the service being introduced to London. It helps that the switch is within a quarter mile of my house, so I get excellent speed with it.

I switched over in the late fall. I did have some problems with the DSL service initially. I think Bell and Primus had a bit of an argument over who was in charge of things.

What made me switch to Primus? The all inclusive features were included in the package and Bell was feeing me to death...$5 for this, $7 for that.

My only beef with Primus was the call centre in India...You have to force them to go off the script and stop thinking the problem is all a result of being a tech bozo. Just gotta give em shit then they start giving you some respect.

Am I happy. YEP. Let's be honest, it doesn't matter who you use for residential phone and DSL service, in most cases you can be assured that the physical assets are Bell's. (ok..Rogers is a different deal altogether)

what is the contracts you need to sign for this Primus 3-in-one bundle? 2 years i guess?

and how much does it go up to from 69 after 1) 3 months 2) 6 months?

also, what is the speed of Primus' DSL? 1 meg or 5 megs?

they could be buying lots of bundles from Bell and selling them cheap

The contract is month to month. I doubt that there will be any price increases either, the cost to set up customers is too high relative to the profit margin they make on bundled services (it's easier for the customer to switch to a better deal these days...keep your number and let the phone company do all work).

They say the DSL speed is up to 5mbs but I haven't noticed any difference than sympatico, but as I said I am very close to the local switch in my area.

You are correct they pay rent to Bell just like everyone else but maintain their own fiber-optic transmission facilities and gateway switches.
