Okay, I haven't been following the market so need to catch up on what's out there.
My KDS 19" CRT monitor just went up in smoke! Lucky for me I had a spare 17" DELL CRT monitor but it's old and hard on the eyes. I need a monitor that is easy to read, and detailed enough so I can do photo editing. Also want a high refresh rate so I can watch on-line video without any distortion. Also want one that won't melt down in 6 month. LOL Anybody have a brand they swear by as a recommendation? I'll probably have upgrade myself into the wonderful world of LCD.

hehehe....
We've talked about this before BUT.. I really enjoy my 37", LCD, HDTV .. it is both my tv and pc monitor.. has pip which cuts down on bordem factor when installing and rebooting. (throw the game on!) I like eliminating a secondary 'screen' .. I know this doesn't work for everyone.. but I LOVE it! If you get a smaller one, with the same features you can still have the 'two in one' feature for an affordable price... ya ya.. I know I'm spolied..

Hey Gerald,
Recently went on a search for new monitors for LAN at work. Quite a selection out there, but decided on a ViewSonic LCD 20" regular (not widescreen) Model VG2021m. Very reasonable price and above average specs. Best deal at the time was BestBuy for around $250, if I recall correctly. I stayed away from the widescreens as they tend to distort images and found that webpages don't display vertically in full without major adjustments to display settings. They may be great for watching videos but not much else. Refresh rate is great. Colour and contrast excellent. Good luck in your shopping!

Thanks Barry.
Sure there isn't an extra one at work that accidently could fall into your trunk? lmao I'm debating to go that route or just go to Computer Liquidators and pic up a used 19" CRT for $50. I'm just lucky I have a second computer. So far I've needed it's power supply and monitor to stay up and running. I'm running out of spare parts! lol

If you are seriously using your monitor for photo-editing and price is an issue, Computer Liquidations should be the perfect solution for you.To get a flat panel that matches these CRT's specs would cost you big bucks. I still love my NEC flat screen CRT at home even though I use dual 19"monitors at work.
If your buying criteria is price and performance, high end CRT's win. |

First a declaration of conflictof interests: The boys at Computer Liquidators are friends of mine.
That said it is the only place I buy computer parts. Most of the stuff they have is good for at least 4-5 years. Bought a 21" monitor 5 years ago for my dad.....still works fine. |

It looks like a good deal, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for. |
