Default The remake of V

To everyone who remember the show V for the mid-eighties. They have just remade it for abc starting in the fall.

Just saw the new update version looks good.

I enjoyed this show growing up and I am looking forward to seeing this updated version.
It has a good cast too.

I hear ya - Jane Badler was so sultry-hot.

Looking forward to seeing this remake.

I had the opportunity to view the first part of the new V mini series and I'm a little concerned that the current production has moved too quickly towards the action portion of the story. A new take on a story means that it will likely evolve differently but if this edition doesn't set the ominous tone of oppression, like the original successfully did, then they will fail to induce the most important part of the story.

The original story did a great job of paralleling the alien invasion with the Nazi Party’s activities prior to and during WW II. Jumping right into the action part of the resistance undermines the impact of the story. I know that flashbacks, to explain backstories, are a popular way for film and television to create drama and confusion, as evidence to the current Lost and Flashback series. However, the best part of the original mini series was the gradual realization by the characters that the Visitors' guise of friendship was not all that they presented it to be. The eventual call-to-arms of the resistance was made compelling because of the emotions and reservations that the characters had to work through. The emotional process the character endured was critical to the development of the original's sweeping storyline.

I just hope that the series slows down and works though some of the more complex human emotions that were the real strength of the original but only a cursory revelation in the first piece of the current adaptation.
